Warzone Operators and Weapon Blueprints won't transfer to Warzone 2

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are just a few months away, and players are confused about the transfer status of in-game items such as weapon blueprints and Operators. Players are questioning whether or not the items will carry over to the new Warzone 2.

Since the progression of the current Warzone is shared across Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard, all the in-game items from these titles are usable in Warzone. This has enabled players to develop various weapon loadout types and metas.

Unfortunately, Warzone 2 is a completely new game developed using a brand new engine "built from the ground up." Warzone 2 leverages the new engine Modern Warfare 2 is built on, similar to how Warzone was developed using the same engine as Modern Warfare 2019.

In a blog post, Activision confirmed that "Warzone 2 will feature a new Modern Warfare 2 content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories." None of the current items will be transferred to the new Warzone 2.

The good news is that the current Warzone will continue to operate as a standalone game with its support from the developers. But we all know the player base will shrink once the highly anticipated Warzone 2 comes out. It is still good to know that those who decide to stay on the OG Warzone will still be able to continue playing rather than being forced to upgrade to Warzone 2.

The integration of Warzone 2 with Modern Warfare 2 is supposed to be a "seamless transition" without any issues considering they're both on the same engine. The only downside is that Warzone 2 won't support titles older than Modern Warfare 2. During Summer Game Fest, Johanna Faries, General Manager at Infinity Ward, described Warzone 2 as "an extension of the MW2 universe."

Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28, 2022, with Warzone 2 following a month or two after. Warzone 2 is confirmed to be releasing this year. Since Modern Warfare 2 is releasing in late October, there will only be two months left before the Christmas holidays and the end of the year. We can expect Warzone 2 integration to happen a month after the release of Modern Warfare 2.

  1. What about the COD points thats actual money? They seem to not answer that question clearly and no body is talking about it..suspicious if you ask me

    1. Hey Anthony, that's a good question. It is still not confirmed.

However, I can confirm one thing for sure: the restriction of transfer from one platform to the other. If you are planning on purchasing the upcoming game on Steam, then your COD points on Battle.net won't carry over to Steam.

And if you're going to purchase the game on the same Battle.net, the chances of COD points carrying over are high, as has been the case for many years.

Unfortunately, there has not been any official confirmation. We can always hope for more transparency.
